Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Warren Township Blue Devils

The Plainfield South Cougars and the Warren Township Blue Devils will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Plainfield South turned things around against Richards on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 60-30 victory over the Bulldogs. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season.

Plainfield South got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tierra Abner out in front who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave Abner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Lesure, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Warren Township beat Glenbard East 44-39 on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Blue Devils' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Rams are ranked 205th).

The win got Plainfield South back to even at 6-6. As for Warren Township, their victory bumped their record up to 2-11.
