Deer Valley is 8-2 against Cactus since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Skyhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cobras at 5:30 p.m. Deer Valley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Deer Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: ALA - Gilbert North, who was ranked ninth at the time (Deer Valley was ranked 25th). The Skyhawks came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.

Deer Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 31-29, 25-15, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Cactus came up short against Goldwater on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Cactus was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Goldwater work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 19-25, 25-15, 25-14.

Despite the defeat, Cactus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vinnie Vitale had 23 digs and two aces. Vitale is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 16 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Dillon Hommel was another key player, getting 21 assists and four digs.

Cactus' loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Deer Valley, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-8.

Deer Valley took their victory against Cactus in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Skyhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cobras turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
