Softball Recap: Grayville Wins Going Away Against Wayne City

With a playoff win on the line, Grayville rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wayne City Indians as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bison, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Maci McClusky made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. McClusky was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grayville let Ava Kleinschmidt and Addi Tate run wild. Kleinschmidt went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Tate went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those four hits gave Tate a new career-high. Briley Campbell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Grayville and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Wayne City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Grayville will face off against Edwards County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Wayne City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
