Basketball Recap: Rondout Valley Comes Up Short

Rondout Valley lost against Wallkill back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rondout Valley Ganders had to suffer through a 69-34 loss at the hands of the Wallkill Panthers. The Ganders were down 58-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

It was another big night for Zoe Mesuch, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 25 points and seven steals for Wallkill. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Mesuch has scored at least a third of Wallkill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Price, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Rondout Valley and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Wallkill, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Rondout Valley will venture away from home to take on Red Hook at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Red Hook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Rondout Valley likes a good challenge. As for Wallkill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of Lourdes at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Wallkill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.
