Baseball Recap: Earlville Comes Up Short

Earlville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Beloit Sobos. If the Red Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Sobos when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Earlville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declan Brennan, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Brennan is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Earlville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. South Beloit has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Earlville will head out on the road to take on West Carroll at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for South Beloit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Milledgeville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
