Softball Recap: Vicksburg Comes Up Short

Vicksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coldwater Cardinals. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Vicksburg got a good showing from Allison Truckey, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Truckey a new career-low.

At the plate, Kayla Chisholm made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Vicksburg now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Coldwater, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cardinals beat Vicksburg by a score of 9-4 later that day.
