Baseball Recap: Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Calvary Chapel Academy last Thursday, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy came back down to earth. The Tigers took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Merritt Island Mustangs on Monday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy got a good showing from Seth Monteleon, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Monteleon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody DelBoccio, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. DelBoccio has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-10 otherwise.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Merritt Island, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will take on Astronaut at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Merritt Island, they will square off against Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3, the Commodores 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
