Softball Recap: Scappoose Falls Short Against Ranked Astoria

Scappoose faced Astoria in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Indians fell just short of the Fishermen by a score of 5-4. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fishermen earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Ashlynn Komp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Scappoose and nudges their season record down to 17-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Astoria, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4-1.

While Scappoose had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
