Baseball Recap: Shirley Takes a Loss

Shirley had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-14 to make it 17. They lost 15-0 to the West Side Eagles. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for West Side, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For West Side's part, they got a massive performance out of Brooks Hipp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Hipp has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bo Hipp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Side beat Shirley by a score of 17-2 later that day.
