Softball Game Preview: Sayre Sabres vs. Wyalusing Valley Rams

Sayre hasn't had much luck against Wyalusing Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sabres will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Sayre is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Cowanesque Valley.

Raegan Parrish was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Abbie McGaughey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Thompson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Wyalusing Valley's offense. They lost 8-0 to Northwest Area on Friday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wyalusing Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Sayre, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
