Basketball Recap: Josie Meeks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Walnut over Mooreville

If Walnut was feeling good fresh off their 74-11 takedown of Nettleton last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost to the Mooreville Troopers on the road by a 55-40 margin on Friday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Troopers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Walnut's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Meeks, who posted ten points. Allie Jackson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mooreville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Walnut wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-35 loss against Itawamba Agricultural on the 15th. As for Mooreville, they will venture away from home to square off against Ripley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
