Basketball Recap: Naomi Denmark and Liv Geritano Secure Win for St. Petersburg Catholic

St. Petersburg Catholic won the last time they faced Northeast and things went their way on Saturday too. The St. Petersburg Catholic Barons came out on top against the Northeast Vikings by a score of 53-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barons.

St. Petersburg Catholic was led to victory by Liv Geritano and Naomi Denmark. Geritano went 8 of 13 on her way to 18 points and four steals, while Denmark went 8 for 9 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Geritano a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidon Jones, who posted four points and four steals.

St. Petersburg Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Northeast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Geniya Fisher, who earned eight points along with ten boards and five steals, and Jy'Aira Washington, who put up 15 points and five steals. That was a full 36.6% of Northeast's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

St. Petersburg Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Northeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

St. Petersburg Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-30 win against Admiral Farragut on the 13th. As for Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-17 victory against Hollins on the 13th.
