Baseball Recap: Seekonk Gets the Win

Seekonk was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against West Bridgewater on Friday. The Warriors never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Seekonk got a great performance from Jack Lasalle as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Javi Borges and Cole Arruda did most of the damage at the plate: Borges went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double, while Arruda went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Borges has become a key player for Seekonk: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Jonathan Tawa also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Seekonk hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Seekonk now has a winning record of 6-5. As for West Bridgewater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Seekonk will take on Dighton-Rehoboth Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Bridgewater, they will face off against Hull at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
