Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Cougars vs. Blaine Borderites

Lakewood is on a three-game streak of home losses, Blaine a nine-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Lakewood Cougars will host the Blaine Borderites at 7:15 p.m. Lakewood has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 241 points over their last three matchups.

On Saturday, Lakewood strolled past Meridian with points to spare, taking the game 77-62.

Meanwhile, Blaine came up short against Bear Creek on Saturday and fell 63-51. While losing is never fun, the Borderites can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 91st).

Lakewood is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Blaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Everything came up roses for Lakewood against Blaine in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 65-32 win. Will Lakewood repeat their success, or does Blaine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
