Baseball Recap: Warren Comes Up Short

Warren fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Athens on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Surprisingly, this marked the Warriors' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Warren saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Cline, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Warren dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Athens, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

Looking ahead, Warren is taking a road trip to challenge Jackson at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Ironman/Ironladies' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Athens, they will welcome Zane Trace at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.3, the Pioneers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
