Oglethorpe County came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes by a score of 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Oglethorpe County easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-12.

Leanna Newton paced Oglethorpe County's offense, picking up 11 kills. Newton got some help from Naomi McPeake and her 20 assists. McPeake was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Oglethorpe County's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Monroe Area, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
