Softball Recap: Wardlaw Academy Has No Trouble Against Northside Christian Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ridge Spring-Monetta, Wardlaw Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders as Wardlaw Academy made off with a 13-2 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brianna McNeill ( JR) made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Hill (JR), who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Katherine Trotter (JR) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Wardlaw Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Northside Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Wardlaw Academy will face off against Richard Winn Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wardlaw Academy is facing Richard Winn Academy at the right time seeing as Richard Winn Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northside Christian Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Laurens Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurens Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something Northside Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
