Softball Recap: Abington Friends vs. Science Leadership Academy

Abington Friends took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against Science Leadership Academy as Abington Friends made off with an 11-4 victory.

Lorelai Stirling made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Stirling was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Calysta Salas was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Fia Capone was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

Abington Friends was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Science Leadership Academy only posted a batting average of .172.

This is the second loss in a row for Science Leadership Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Abington Friends will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Friends Select at 4:00 p.m. on April 7th. As for Science Leadership Academy, they will head out to take on George Washington at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
