Baseball Recap: Hawkins Snags 17th Victory in Last 19 Games

While Hawkins put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Yantis. The Hawks put the hurt on the Owls with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 15 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Tilar Maberry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hawkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yantis only posted an OBP of .474.

Hawkins has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Yantis, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hawkins will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Owls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
