Softball Recap: Mission Beats Roma for Their Sixth Straight Win

Mission waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Roma Gladiators an 18-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-6 back in March.

Mission got a massive performance out of Ilia Fiscal, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Breanna Longoria was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Mission kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.

Mission's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Roma, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission will square off against Palmview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lobos have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Roma, they will take on Martin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gladiators are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 24-game losing streak.
