The Wheatmore Warriors will challenge the Trinity Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wheatmore is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Wheatmore came up short against Providence Grove and fell 3-1.
While Wheatmore ultimately came up short, they really made Providence Grove work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 14-25, 28-26, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Trinity didn't have quite enough to beat West Davidson on Tuesday and fell 3-2. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Trinity started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 16-14.
Wheatmore will have to contain Avalynn Johnson as she made an impact in Trinity's last game. She had 51 assists and 19 digs. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 46 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Charlee Phillips, who had 18 digs and two aces.
Trinity now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Wheatmore, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
