Preview: Clackamas Cavaliers vs. Newberg Tigers
The Clackamas Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Newberg Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Clackamas had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Lincoln 28-7. The win made it back-to-back wins for Clackamas.
Clackamas can attribute much of their success to Jaxson Decker, who rushed for 204 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Luke Baker was another key contributor, picking up 63 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, even though Franklin scored an imposing 40 points on Friday, Newberg still came out on top. Newberg breezed by Franklin at home to the tune of 68-40. Winning may never get old, but Newberg sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Clackamas has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Newberg, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Clackamas against Newberg in their previous matchup back in November of 2018 as the squad secured a 48-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clackamas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
