Softball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson lost against New Diana back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Jefferson came up short against New Diana, falling 11-3.

Jefferson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Wood, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles Wood has posted since back in February. Another was Janaa Goynes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Jefferson's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-8. As for New Diana, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jefferson is set to face off against their familiar foe Hughes Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, New Diana will take on rival Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
