Basketball Recap: Beach Falls Despite Big Games from Jayden Newton and Chandler Reid

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Beach can now relate to. They came up short against the Baldwin Braves on Wednesday, falling 76-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since January 17th.

Beach's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chandler Reid, who went 8-for-17 en route to 18 points and three steals, and Jayden Newton, who posted 19 points. The game was Reid's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Barrett, who scored four points and 12 rebounds.

Baldwin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karez Demory, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 21 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. What's more, Demory also posted a 62% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Deven Nelson, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Beach is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-15. As for Baldwin, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 22-7.

Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Baldwin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-57 victory against Upson-Lee on the 22nd.
