The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaden Gonzalez, who had 11 assists and ten digs. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reyna Garcia, who had ten digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Elsinore 3-0 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
While West Valley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-20.
Tahquitz better keep an eye on Deonys Ioane. She was instrumental in West Valley's win, getting 12 digs and nine kills. That's the most kills Ioane has posted since back in August. Kamryn Hubbell was another key player, getting 11 digs, five kills, and two aces.
Tahquitz's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for West Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-17.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Tahquitz has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.3 aces per game. However, it's not like West Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
