Softball Game Preview: Lyman Greyhounds vs. Winter Springs Bears

Lyman is 1-9 against Winter Springs since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Greyhounds will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lyman is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Oviedo.

Lyman got a massive performance out of Ava Campanale, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Brooke Proulx was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Winter Springs never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Osceola with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Tiffany Seemann made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Seemann was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adison Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Wassey, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Winter Springs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

Lyman's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Winter Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
