Pine Island waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the St. Charles Fighting Saints with a sharp 6-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Brandon Week made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Ben Grabau was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Luke Sems also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Pine Island pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Charles, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-7.
