Softball Recap: Sandwich Wins Going Away Against Woodstock North

Sandwich hadn't done well against Woodstock North recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Indians were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Thunder. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly ten runs.

Aubrey Cyr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kayden Corneils was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kendal Petre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Sandwich has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Woodstock North, they moved to 10-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Woodstock North is set to face off against their familiar foe Woodstock at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Blue Streaks a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
