Football Game Preview: Lansingburgh Knights vs. Cohoes Tigers

Lansingburgh has gone a perfect 4-0 against Cohoes recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Knights will host the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lansingburgh has three straight wins, Cohoes has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lansingburgh took a 27-point defeat the last time they faced off against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over the Ravens on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Ravens are ranked 112th).

Lansingburgh found their leader in sophomore Anari Fredericks, who rushed for 195 yards and two scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Those 195 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Fredericks.

Lansingburgh was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

One reason for the win was Lansingburgh's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Vincent Faulkner was the leader with two. Salah Thompson was another major factor on D, making 16 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Cohoes' offense. They were dealt a 28-0 loss at the hands of Scotia-Glenville on Thursday.

Cohoes' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Lansingburgh, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Lansingburgh barely slipped by Cohoes in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 14-13. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
