Basketball Recap: River Valley Comes Up Short

River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They fell 61-53 to the South Gallia Rebels. The Raiders were probably out for revenge after losing 53-42 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, River Valley still got an impressive performance from Landon Burns, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Burns a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Richardson, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, River Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

River Valley's record now sits at 1-13. As for South Gallia, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

River Valley will head out to square off against Federal Hocking at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. River Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. South Gallia has already played their next match (against Eastern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
