Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Lancers vs. Cinnaminson Pirates

The Cinnaminson Pirates typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Holy Cross Lancers proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 70-60. The win was all the more spectacular given Holy Cross' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Pirates are ranked 58th).

Holy Cross' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emmanuel Doku, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Doku is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Samir Wellington was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.

The victory (which was Holy Cross' third in a row) raised their record to 8-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Cinnaminson, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-3.

Holy Cross will take on the Panthers at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. As for Cinnaminson, they will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
