Basketball Game Preview: Samson Tigers vs. Cottonwood Bears

Samson and Cottonwood are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Samson Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Cottonwood Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Samson came up short against Geneva County and fell 43-33. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cottonwood had to suffer through a 81-36 loss at the hands of Providence Christian. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Eagles are ranked 121st).

Cottonwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Samson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Things could have been worse for Samson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-22 loss to Cottonwood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Samson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
