Baseball Game Preview: Maryvale Flyers vs. Iroquois Redhawks

Maryvale is 2-8 against Iroquois since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Flyers are taking a road trip to square off against the Redhawks at 5:00 p.m. Maryvale's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Iroquois' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Maryvale came up short against Nichols and fell 5-1. The contest marked the Flyers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Iroquois lost 7-1 to Pioneer on Wednesday.

Iroquois saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexander Yandricha, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Yandricha has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Maryvale and nudges their season record down to 13-5. As for Iroquois, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 10-2.

Maryvale skirted past Iroquois 7-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flyers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
