Preview: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Chesterton Trojans
The Andrean Fighting 59ers will head out on the road to square off against the Chesterton Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Andrean comes in on four and Chesterton on seven.
Last Saturday, Andrean earned a 32-25 win over Kankakee Valley.
Maddie Walton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Andrean's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlee Evans, who scored four points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Chesterton put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They breezed by La Porte at home to the tune of 64-20. 64 seems to be a good number for Chesterton as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Chesterton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tenley Davis, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Davis is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Kenedi Bradley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine steals.
Andrean's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Chesterton, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Andrean was able to grind out a solid win over Chesterton in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 57-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Andrean since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
