Softball Game Preview: Foxcroft Academy Ponies vs. Orono Riots

The Foxcroft Academy Ponies will challenge the Orono Riots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Foxcroft Academy nor Orono posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Foxcroft Academy fell victim to Bucksport and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Golden Bucks, falling 19-0. The loss put an end to the Ponies' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Orono also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 9-0 to Bucksport on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Riots in their meetings with the Golden Bucks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Foxcroft Academy fell to 2-1. As for Orono, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Foxcroft Academy suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Orono when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Ponies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
