Volleyball Recap: Decatur Community Comes Up Short

Decatur Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cheylin Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Saturday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Decatur Community sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 25-23.

Brylee Minnick paced Decatur Community's offense, picking up ten kills. Minnick got some help from Jori Fortin and her 15 assists.

Decatur Community's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Cheylin, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Decatur Community has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Logan/Palco on the 23rd. As for Cheylin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Hitchcock County on the 25th.
