Conner lost to Newport back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Conner Cougars managed a 73-69 win over the Newport Wildcats.

Despite the loss, Newport still got an impressive performance from James Turner, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Turner is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Amontae Lowe, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points.

Conner's record is now 16-7. As for Newport, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conner will challenge Newport Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newport, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
