Volleyball Recap: Dexter Takes a Loss

Dexter was the 3-1 winner over Bell City when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bearcats fell just short of the Cubs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Dexter wouldn't go down easily and took Bell City into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-13, 21-25, 20-25, 25-17, 16-14.

Mauriona Menley paced Dexter's offense, picking up 12 kills. Menley got some help from Brooklyn Goodman and her 32 assists. Menley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Dexter's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7-2. As for Bell City, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Looking ahead, Dexter will head out to square off against Bloomfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bell City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarkton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
