Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was the 2-1 winner over Miami Trace when they last played one another back in August of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Panthers on Monday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-19, 15-25, 25-10.

Athens' offense was headlined by Mabel Monday and Ava Meili, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Sofia Smith and her 18 assists. Grace Inboden controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Miami Trace can attribute much of their success to Keionnie Ackley, who had 20 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Ackley has posted since back in September.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Miami Trace, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.

Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miami Trace, they will take on Unioto in a tournament on Thursday.
