Preview: Sweet Springs Greyhounds vs. Marshall Owls
The Sweet Springs Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Marshall Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sweet Springs is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Sweet Springs suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. Their tough 72-50 defeat to Brunswick might stick with them for a while.
Meanwhile, even though Macon scored an imposing 69 points last Thursday, Marshall still came out on top. Marshall skirted past Macon 71-69. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Marshall has posted yet this season.
Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Thompson led the charge by scoring 18 points along with three steals. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Kueker, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Sweet Springs has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Sweet Springs was dealt a bruising 63-35 loss at the hands of Marshall when the teams last played back in December of 2016. Can Sweet Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
