Basketball Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Rock Falls Rockets

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Rock Falls Rockets at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Genoa-Kingston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches.

On Tuesday, Genoa-Kingston came up short against Hinckley-Big Rock and fell 74-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (64), the Cogs still had to take the loss.

Rock Falls has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 60-52 to Princeton on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rockets came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Tigers are ranked 413th).

Genoa-Kingston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Rock Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Genoa-Kingston might still be hurting after the 81-61 loss they got from Rock Falls in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Genoa-Kingston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
