Basketball Recap: Cheylin Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Cheylin proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 27) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hi-Plains Patriots, sneaking past 39-36. The 39-point effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Hi-Plains' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Henschel, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 12 points gave Henschel a new career-high. Serenity Hernandez was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Cheylin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Hi-Plains, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Cheylin will challenge Triplains/Brewster at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hi-Plains, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-36 win against Kit Carson on the 23rd.
