Basketball Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats vs. Kenedy Lions

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Refugio Bobcats duke it out with the Kenedy Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Friday... Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Refugio sitting on eight straight wins and Kenedy on four.

Last Tuesday, Refugio was able to grind out a solid victory over Skidmore-Tynan, taking the game 47-34.

Refugio got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Laken Cancino out in front who posted 13 points and five steals. Cancino is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedie Wills, who scored 13 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kenedy didn't have too much trouble with Three Rivers on Tuesday as they won 48-33.

Kenedy has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. As for Refugio, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4.

Refugio came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenedy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 63-61. Does Refugio have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kenedy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
