Baseball Game Preview: Chester Yellowjackets vs. Valmeyer Pirates

The Chester Yellowjackets will face off against the Valmeyer Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Chester had taken Sparta down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Yellowjackets took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Chester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenden Malley, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Valmeyer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Marissa/Coulterville.

Chester's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Valmeyer, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Chester came out on top in a nail-biter against Valmeyer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
