Volleyball Recap: York Takes Down Ranked Greely

York faced Greely in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Rangers by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

York had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.

York's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jillian Holland, who had 30 digs, 13 kills, two blocks, and two aces. Holland has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Babcock, who had 38 digs and two assists.

York's record is now 11-0. As for Greely, their loss ended a nine-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

York has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Gorham on the 14th. As for Greely, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Mount Desert Island on the 10th.
