Baseball Game Preview: Charles City Comets vs. Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings

The Charles City Comets will square off against the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Charles City and four for Vinton-Shellsburg.

Charles City fell victim to Algona and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Vinton-Shellsburg also failed to score in their most recent game. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion on Thursday.

Vinton-Shellsburg's loss dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Charles City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-24.

Charles City couldn't quite get it done against Vinton-Shellsburg in their previous meeting back in July of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
