Basketball Game Preview: Southside Christian Sabres vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears

The Southside Christian Sabres will head out to challenge the Belton-Honea Path Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Southside Christian was beaten by Powdersville 69-38. While losing is never fun, the Sabres can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Patriots are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, Belton-Honea Path had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 70-49 margin over the Warriors. The Bears pushed the score to 53-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Southside Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Belton-Honea Path, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.

Everything went Southside Christian's way against Belton-Honea Path in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, as Southside Christian made off with a 55-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southside Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
