Baseball Recap: Perry Starts Season with Win on the Road

Perry had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the McComb Panthers with a sharp 12-2 win on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Commodores, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hunter Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Scott was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Landon Cockerell was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Conner Patrick was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Coming up, Perry is taking a road trip to challenge Jackson Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McComb, they will welcome Tinora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
