Wake County HomeSchool came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Croatan Cougars 11-9.
Avery Martin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Wake County HomeSchool got a great performance from Carter Firebaugh as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, Firebaugh didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.
Back at the plate, Gabriel Ferrell was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jace Jones was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Wake County HomeSchool hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Croatan struck out ten times.

Wake County HomeSchool wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 win against TEACH Homeschool on the 27th. As for Croatan, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-6 defeat against West Carteret on the 25th.
