Baseball Recap: West Davidson Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Stokes, West Davidson was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the South Davidson Wildcats get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Considering the Dragons have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Thomas Hester and Brady Edwards made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hester didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Edwards tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Hester went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Edwards went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Davis Lomax and Carson Michael did most of the damage at the plate: Lomax went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Michael went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. West Davidson is undefeated when Lomax posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Tierney, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

West Davidson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Davidson only posted an OBP of .111.

West Davidson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for South Davidson, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

West Davidson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-2 victory against East Davidson on the 23rd. South Davidson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
